Annette Geraci is a retired art therapist and an artist. She was born and raised in Cleveland Heights, OH. She went to The Beaumont School. She studied Sociology at Notre Dame College and was an elementary school teacher for three years. She met and married Leonard Geraci and had three sons. Leonard built a successful business, and the family enjoyed traveling.

After Annette’s sons became more independent, she began taking art classes at Orange Art Center. She started off using oil paints and cattle-markers. She discovered the healing nature of art and got her graduate degree in Art Therapy from Ursuline College. She worked as an art therapist at Montefiore Home (Menorah Park) for ten years. After retirement, Annette started taking groups at the Art Therapy Studio as a client-artist. She has expanded her media usage to colored pencils, acrylic paints, gel pens, pastels, and collage. She currently enjoys time with her family, doing needlepoint, and creating colorful mixed media collages with her fellow client-artists.

“Hidden Dreams”

Annette Geraci

Hidden Dreamsis a vibrant collage presenting a surreal and layered composition that blends historical portraiture, architectural landscapes, and whimsical elements. Dominating the artwork are three Renaissance-style female faces with red hair, partially obscured or emerging from the background. These faces seem to exist in a dreamlike space, surrounded by ornate architectural motifs and floral line drawings.

The foreground bursts with color and movement, featuring a picturesque Venetian canal scene with historic buildings reflecting on the water. Birds in flight add dynamic energy, while fantastical elements evoke a sense of folklore and fantasy.

The juxtaposition of Renaissance aesthetics with contemporary collage techniques creates a striking contrast between past and present. The inclusion of soft pink flowers and textured vintage objects further enhances the nostalgic yet otherworldly quality of the piece.

This collage invites viewers to explore its rich tapestry of imagery, where history, mythology, and imagination seamlessly intertwine.
