Position Overview
The Art Therapist (Independent Contractor) role at Art Therapy Studio offers a unique opportunity for a skilled and compassionate professional to provide one-on-one therapeutic art sessions to individuals, families, and couples. As a 1099 contractor, you will have the flexibility to manage your own schedule while working within a supportive and collaborative environment dedicated to the transformative power of art therapy.
In this role, you will design and facilitate art therapy interventions tailored to clients’ unique needs and therapeutic goals, leveraging a range of art techniques and materials. With the autonomy to schedule and manage your own client appointments, you will maintain a focus on client-centered care while upholding ethical standards and confidentiality.
Art Therapy Studio provides the tools and space you need to succeed, including art supplies, a dedicated therapeutic environment, and a cloud-based EHR system for seamless documentation. Key Responsibilities

Conduct one-on-one art therapy sessions with individual clients.

Facilitate family and couple art therapy sessions, addressing specific therapeutic goals and dynamics.

Develop personalized treatment plans based on client assessments and therapeutic needs.

Create a safe and supportive environment for clients to express themselves through art.

Utilize various art materials and techniques to aid in the therapeutic process.

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and standards.

Schedule and manage your own client appointments, ensuring timely and consistent communication.

Keep accurate and up-to-date records of client progress and session outcomes.

Participate in regular supervision and professional development opportunities.

Utilize a cloud-based electronic health record (EHR) system to document client activities and session details onsite immediately after the conclusion of each session.
Qualifications

Master’s degree in Art Therapy

LPAT
-
ATR-BC
-
Minimum of 2 years of experience providing art therapy services.

Strong understanding art therapy techniques and approaches for individuals, families, and couples.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and manage your own schedule.

Compassionate, empathetic, and dedicated to client well-being.

Comfortable working with diverse populations and age groups.
Physical Demands
The employee may be required to sit, use their hands for grasping or handling objects, reach with their arms, and perform movements such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, while also being able to, themselves or through an interpreter, hear and communicate verbally. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The noise level varies, and the art therapist must be able to adapt to high and low noise environments.

Notes about the Selection Process
The interview process will include 2 rounds of interviews. If you are selected as a candidate, we will contact you via email to schedule your first interview. The first interview round will be with ATS’s Clinical Director and you will be asked to share an art task you have designed to work with participants to a group program. If the candidate is successful in the first interview, they will be advanced to an interview with a member of our staff before the candidate is selected.
