Chris Treu Memorial Fund

On April 13th, 2022 long standing Board Member and supporter Christine M. Treu died suddenly. Chris served on the board of Art Therapy Studio for over a decade and was our acting Vice President at the time of her passing. She was best known for hosting lovely holiday parties for staff and putting together the Annual Art Loan Benefit which raised money to support the mission of Art Therapy Studio. She was a wonderful artist and had a natural talent for decorating and entertaining, making her the perfect host for our Annual Benefit. She had tremendous dedication to the mission of Art Therapy Studio and her warm smile and leadership will be dearly missed by our staff, board, client-artists, and all who knew her.

In recognition of Chris Treu’s (pronounced Troy) unwavering dedication to the mission of Art Therapy Studio—to enhance the quality of life for all people through art therapy—we established the Christine M. Treu Memorial Fund.

Thanks to the generosity of those who have made gifts in Chris’s memory, the Fund has grown into a lasting source of support that helps remove financial barriers to participation. Most significantly, memorial contributions to the Fund now allow Art Therapy Studio to offer all of our public group art therapy and therapeutic art programs free of charge to participants.

The actual cost of providing services remains substantial, with each participant receiving approximately $700 worth of programming during a 10-week session. However, the Christine M. Treu Memorial Fund helps bridge that gap, ensuring that individuals can access the benefits of art therapy regardless of their financial circumstances.

Chris believed deeply in the healing power of creativity and in making services accessible to those who need them most. Through the continued support of this Fund, her legacy lives on by helping individuals and families throughout our community find connection, self-expression, and hope through art.

Together, we can ensure that cost is never a barrier to life-changing art therapy and therapeutic art services.
