Find Out If Art Therapy Is Right for You
Art therapy is a professional mental health practice that uses the creative process to promote healing, self-expression, and personal growth. Just like talk therapy relies on words, art therapy uses artmaking as a tool to explore emotions, experiences, and challenges. It is not art instruction—no artistic skill is required—as the focus is on the process rather than the final product. Art therapy can support individuals facing mental health concerns, trauma, medical challenges, disabilities, life transitions, and more by offering an alternative way to communicate beyond words. Guided by a licensed art therapist, each session is tailored to individual needs, providing a safe, non-judgmental space for self-reflection, emotional regulation, and skill-building. While art therapists may help clients explore deeper personal meanings in their artwork, they do not “analyze” or interpret artwork for hidden messages. Instead, they support individuals in finding insight, mindfulness, and perspective through creative expression.
