The bi-annual event features a competition between Northern Ohio's finest Pastry Chefs as
they compete for recognition. A panel of culinary judges from the area's top cooking schools
and media awards Best of Show, Crowd Favorite, Most Decadently Delicious and Most
Artistic desserts. This year's event raised over $47,000 to support our art therapy
programs in the community.
All of our competitors did a wonderful job! Hope you saw the terrific coverage in the October
13th Plain Dealer Out & About Section. When you place orders with the fine establishments
and pastry chefs, please let them know you heard about them at the Competition!
A big THANK YOU goes out to Tina Korting, Benefit Chairperson, the pastry chefs, corporate
sponsors, guests, volunteers and donors for making this year's CREATIVE CONFECTIONS
DESSERT COMPETITION one of our best.
On Saturday, October 4th, over 400 guests had a great time learning about art therapy while
sampling 48 decadently delicious desserts surrounded by the RainForest!.

ART LOAN - GEORGE STREETER CIRCULATING COLLECTION

Our Artloan Benefit features the George Streeter Circulating Collection which contains over 200 pieces of artwork
contributed by recognized Cleveland artists such as Viktor Schreckengost and Herb Ascherman, as well as
patients/artists who have participated in the Studio’s creative, therapeutic arts programs since 1967.
These paintings are “loaned” to guests for a one-year period in return for a donation. The benefits of the Circulating
Collection are two-fold: it gives Cleveland artists and our patient/artists the opportunity to showcase their work and it
provides the Art Therapy Studio with a continuing means of generating funds. Since the inception of the ArtLoan
program, over $150,000 has been raised to support our therapeutic arts programs.
You will also have the opportunity to see Artists at Work - watch artists in action, speak with them about their creative
process, and bid on artwork created that night at the event. Personal interaction is the greatest value in the Art
Therapy process — when people create together in the Studio, hope is also created - hope that support, growth, and
healing is possible.
